Our Mission
Through mandated development and implementation of knowledge based systems and procedures, we provide road authorities and sectoral stakeholders with cost effective, high quality services that support implementation of government strategy, their obligations, goals and objectives.
Vision for the RMO
Empowering local government with data driven evidence based solutions for efficient and sustainable road asset management, while promoting consistency and collaboration with national stakeholders.
Our Values
The RMO is committed to delivering high quality efficient services. It achieves this by combining team skills and expertise, effective systems and processes with a strong public sector culture and ethos. This is grounded on shared values of integrity and ethical behaviour, candour and accountability demonstrated in transparent reporting and assurance, collaboration with clients and stakeholders, constant innovation and research combined with a strong commitment to learning lessons and to continuous improvement.
Our Operating Environment
The RMO delivers services in a complex operating environment. It is overseen by a County and City Management Association (CCMA) Board under the aegis of the Department of Transport. The Board reports on policy to the CCMA through the CCMA’s Committee system.
Strategic Goals
Our Strategic Goals are aligned to ambitious objectives of the local government sector, helping coordinate best practice as it develops across the sector and making it available systematically. We work with partners to capture and disseminate innovative solutions and pilot developments in the sector, incorporating them into best practice roads asset management and control of roads operations through effective transactional processes, while also promoting high quality analytics and technical advice to roads managers and planners.
We support DOT by enabling policy directions (specific projects and applications) and as provider of reliable reports and analysis of road management data to inform emerging policy and programme planning and to enable quantification of outputs and outcomes of programmes.
